Princ3 Jok3r Turned a Drunk Compliment Into A Career

Despite his name, Princ3 Jok3r wasn’t born into a royal, castle-dwelling family with a highly-successful rap empire. He instead hails from Loreto, TX and Chicago, IL, building his own rap career on the foundation of a drunk compliment and taking his talent and love for music from escapism into pragmatism. Now with over 200 original songs in his arsenal and several dozen released, Jok3r is proving that his freestyle skills are more than just a party trick.

Jok3r has evolved from a child channeling his struggles into his songs to an established artist with a clear, unshakable vision. After losing his father young and being forced to navigate the public foster system, Jok3r turned to writing music as a way to quiet the troubles of his life.

"I always used music as a coping mechanism…,” he says. “It would bring me away from reality."

In high school, his friend’s drunk compliment about his knack for freestyling inspired him to take music more seriously, Jok3r recording and releasing his track, Snakes, shortly after, the song amassing nearly 1k streams overnight. Although the song that started it all is no longer available to the public, its quick success served as evidence of his talent, Jok3r deciding to see his vision through.

As a father with a day job and no team behind him, Jok3r knows there will be times where his music needs to take a backseat, but he remains unwavering in his dedication to his craft and himself, channeling his confidence into his songs in hopes of spreading the faith.

“I will literally do whatever it takes to see [my vision] through…..It's only a matter of time before I make it,” he says. "You can be whatever the f*ck you want to be, don't let anyone stop you. If I can do it, [you] can do it."

Jok3r is prepared for the world to finally hear the sound of a man who has nothing to lose and everything to prove. His heavy, meaningful lyrics and simple, eerie beats can be heard on his newest EP, Heat 4 The Streets Vol. 1, and his most recent album, To Whom iT May Concern PT. 1.
